About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Hyline Production Manager to oversee the production and delivery of high-quality Grandparent and Parent stock, as well as hatching eggs, to support both internal operations and meet customer requirements.
Reporting to the National Hatchery & GCC Manager, this role operates at both a strategic and hands-on level. You will lead the Hyline operation, ensuring best-practice animal husbandry, operational efficiency, and forward-planning to meet Company, FLC, and customer pullet requirements. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the continued strength of our breeding programme and the overall performance of the poultry supply chain.
Key responsibilities

- Champion a strong Health & Safety culture, lead incident investigations, and support injury-management initiatives.
- Drive flock performance metrics including volume, uniformity, body weight, and hatchability.
- Maintain and continuously enhance biosecurity, quality, and animal-welfare standards across all operations.
- Monitor critical cost areas, address variances, and support delivery of budget targets.
- Support farm development and regional growth projects.
- Lead, coach, and develop team capability through structured meetings, feedback, and training.
- Ensure strict compliance with animal-welfare codes, stock-security protocols, and farm biosecurity requirements.
What you will bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar breeding, production, or livestock leadership role.
- Strong operational knowledge of breeder rearing, production cycles, and planning requirements.
- Excellent poultry husbandry skills and a genuine interest in livestock care and welfare.
- Proven understanding of biosecurity principles and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and sound judgement.
- Solid working knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
- Understanding of equipment, machinery management, and farm operations.
- Deep knowledge of NZ Animal Welfare codes and regulatory expectations.
